KINGS OF MACEDON. Demetrios I Poliorketes, 306-283 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.28 g, 9 h), Amphipolis, circa 294-293. Nike, blowing a trumpet and holding a stylis, standing to left on a left-facing prow. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ - ΔHMHTΡIOΥ Poseidon, nude but for wreath of reeds and a chlamys draped over his left arm, striding left, hurling trident from his upraised right hand; to left, tripod; to right, Z above ME. HGC 3, 1012f. Leu 3 (2018), 68 (same dies). Newell 94 (dies LXXXV/-). SNG Copenhagen -. SNG München -. Attractively toned and very well preserved. Struck from the usual slightly worn dies, otherwise, good extremely fine.
